Logan had his first ever surgery today. Minor as it was, it was still surgery. He had tubes put in both ears. He's had at least 10 ear infections in his short 2 year life. Two of which he's had since his 2 year check up at the beginning of December. That's a lot. He's had a couple double ear infections as well. No fun!
We decided to take him to an ENT and get them checked out. We haven't had concern as much since his pediatrician didn't seem to think it was worth the trip. She felt all was fine. Well, I hate to tell her, but we are the ones who have to take off work, bring him in, and buy the medicine every time he gets yet ANOTHER ear infection. So, we opted to take him anyway. We don't need her permission anyway. I am not in the least bit worried about that. He's our child and we'll decide what's best for him.
He did fine! I went back in the operating room with him. I was allowed back until right after he got his anethesia. I was fine and didn't feel like I was going to lose it UNTIL he passed out and I had to leave the room. I tried to be strong and not do it but I just couldn't help it. Plus they asked if I wanted to give him a kiss before I left. He looked so sweet just laying there. I watched his eyes roll back and his eyelids shut. That is when I think the water works started.
There is just something special about the bond between a mother and her child/children. It's hard to explain to anyone who doesn't have kids. It's hard to explain period. There is nothing like the love of a child! It's amazing. And you feel love like you never have before.
I'm glad the surgery is over and he did well. I knew he would. We got home at 10 am and by 10:30 he was eating breakfast, drinking juice, and trying to stand on his head to do flips! Need I say more?
