Welcome to 2009!

We made our 4th annual trip to The Dillard House on New Year's Day. The food was good as always. Right before we pulled in their driveway we saw a Cherry Picker and also a Fire Truck right at the entrance. We had no clue what they were doing. Justin made a statement saying "I hope their power isn't out." I didn't think anything else of it until we got in the door and heard a man telling us "Their power is out." Our hearts sank and we were really hungry. They also serve breakfast there and we overheard someone say they didn't have any coffee either...good thing I had already had mine for the day! :) We didn't end up taking that many pictures but can post some I did take.

As it turned out, all was well and the food was fine. They do have a few generators and were still able to cook. By the time lunch time rolled around the power was back on. The food was still hot and the only thing we had to wait on was the fried chicken which came out not too long after the rest of the food. We would probably have ended up at McDonald's down the road unfortunately if they couldn't have had lunch. After driving an hour and a half almost to get up there we would have been really disappointed. Especially since it's $21.95/person.

And we were lame and in bed by 10:30 New Year's Eve. It's amazing how much changes when you have a kid and grow older. Going out, partying, just doesn't have the same appeal as it did before. Not that I have ever been much of a party girl. It's fun to go out every once in a while and shake your groove thing and have a few drinks but these days I'd much rather curl up on the couch at home, with a nice warm blanket, a movie/popcorn, and just chill. Sounds boring but it's just the way it is.

As we enter into this brand new year I am hoping it will be a prosperous year for everyone, including ourselves. I hope it brings new beginnings, better economy, the end to the fighting, and overall just peace and love. The world is a tough place these days. We all need some encouragement, faith, hope, and God! Happy New Year!
