2!!!!!

As of November 28th we have a 2 year old!!! A lot has changed in the few short weeks since Logan has been 2. His listening skills have diminished, his use of the word "no" has increased, but he's getting cuter and cuter as they days go by. Just when you think you can't love someone any more than you already do, your child looks at you and smiles and says "I love you". You can't help but fall in love all over again.

On Saturday November 21st we had Logan's 2nd birthday party at McDonald's. It was awesome! He loved it, the kids loved it, I loved it! It was the easiet party I've ever had! And the price, you can't beat it. For up to 11 kids, including the birthday child, it's $60! Yes that is $60. Which includes Happy Meals, cake and icecream, goody bags, and the Happy Meal toy! Plus the kids get to play! It was great! The kids were great! And did I mention the price was GREAT? I highly recommend having a party there if you are looking for something fun and cheap! Some playgrounds are bigger than others. If you live in the Buford, Lawrenceville, Suwanee are, the one by the Mall of GA is the best!

Here are some pictures to prove it!

Not me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Haven't done this in quite some time. Either too busy, I forget, or just don't have anything worth posting about. But here goes:

I definitely, 100%, totally did not grab the tube of vaseline instead of toothpaste and went to squirt it on my child's toothbrush at bed time. How old am I? I surely know the difference between vaseline and toothpaste! Come on!

I didn't skimp and never skip out on the stretching routine after working out. The sign says hold each stretch for 15 seconds. 15 seconds, 10 seconds, 8 seconds, what's the difference?

I can't even imagine ordering 20 Christmas cards from Walgreen's one day, ordering 20 more the next day, and contemplating on whether or not I should order 20 more tomorrow. Nobody knows that many people. That would just be so silly!

Logan is 2 and Merry Christmas!

A few of my favorite photos from Logan's recent visit to Portrait Innovations. We love that place. Even if your child is not cooperating, you still get some good shots. It's amazing. And you can't beat the value for your money. We are hooked for life! We always spend too much money but the pictures are always so good. It's very hard to narrow it down. So, we just go for broke and suck it up! www.portraitinnovations.com

Picture Day!

Our awesome friends, Jon and Sherry and their daughter Ava, asked me to take some family photos of them this past weekend. I was delighted, excited, and a little nervous to oblige. I knew it would be fun no matter what but I was hoping for the best turnout possible. I didn't want them to be disappointed. They wanted more than a studio setting. They wanted light, color, and more personality than a studio can offer. We ended up going to Vines Botanical Gardens. That is where we got ours done in May.

I did my best with them having an almost 3 year old, the time of day, and me not being a professional by any means. Their daughter Ava is full of personality. She is a diva for sure! I think they turned out pretty good for no editing. Take a look. Here are a few of my favorites!

Laid off and it paid off!

Friday July 10th. I'll never forget it. The work day came and the work day went....fine....up until 4:30. A small group of us, 3 to be exact, got called into "the office". I immediately got a pit in my stomach. We all had a feeling of what was about to happen.

Let me back up. The company I was working for, Makita, had been doing a series of layoffs here and there, off and on, for at least 6 months. The business had gone down and we just weren't selling like we should have been. So, naturally, they had to let people go. Every day walking in to work you couldn't help but ask yourself "Is today going to be the day?" "Will I walk out of here without a job today?" This went on for months.

Back to story, I got laid off that Friday afternoon at 4:30. The first time ever I'd been laid off. I've never even been fired for Gosh sakes. I thought to take it personally b/c why else would they choose me? Not that I am perfect, not that I should win employee of the month every month, not that I am above and beyond anyone else. I just didn't know what to think. I come to work every day, on time, do my job, and go home. I guess none of that mattered in this situation.

I filed for unemployment the very next Monday. I started looking for a job that very same day. I think I submitted 8 resumes that morning after coming home from the Unemployment office. I didn't waste any time and didn't want to be out of work longer than I had to.

I babysit for 2 weeks for someone who works with Justin at the office. She had a 9 month old son at the time and wanted to help out. She was about to put him into daycare and heard about my news. She was willing to hold off in doing that, let me keep him, til I got back on my feet. Awesome!!! Why not? It's money and I could continue looking for a job while there.

Then, a friend of mine, whose son has pretty much grown up with Logan at school, told me about a job opening that she had at work. It was only temporary due to the fact that the girl was going on maternity leave. I jumped on it. Yes, it was only temporary but it was money and I could kind of slack off on finding something else. I took it and got started. Went to training classes, sat with the girl who was leaving, and tried to learn as much as possible til she left. The job was going great. I was learning a lot, hopefully doing well, and trying to be a good employee.

2 weeks ago I heard she was coming back from Maternity leave November 16th. I knew it was coming but I started panicking. It's her job, she has had her time off, she is ready to come back to work. That is until yesterday. The call came in about 3 pm. It was her. After all was said and done.....she decided not to return to work! Imagine my surprise! Was I hearing things? Could this really be happening? All those weeks of worry and anxiety about not having a job again flew out the window. I am getting offered the job and will become an official employee.

My house payment, car payments, Logan's birthday, CHRISTMAS, not a huge worry anymore. I feel confident and can say I have a job at the end of the day. I enjoy working here and like the girls I work with. It's a fun environment and different than anything I've ever done. So, God does answer prayers and does look after us. I am not only saying this because I got something that I wanted with His help. I see things all the time that show this. I am just excited and can breathe a little easier!

Halloween 2009........

did not go as planned. Nothing ever does when you have a child. Logan has been sick off and on the last week or so. He's been to the doctor twice in a week and they have found nothing. He's had a horrible cough, snotty nose, and fever. He has on several occasions said "Mommy....ears" and proceeded to point to and stick his fingers in one. So, I was worried he had an infection or two. But, both trips have confirmed NO infection. Just a precaution, we did get a prescription for Zithromax if his nose didn't clear up. It didn't so we started it yesterday. He seemed to be getting better Thursday til I took him to the football game Friday night. I should have known better and just keep him home since it was drizzly and wet the whole time. I wanted to kick myself yesterday morning when he coughed all night and his nose got worse again. I feel very guilty about that and wish I had never taken him. Lesson learned: Go with your Mommy gut!

We did go to our neighbors kiddie Halloween party last night but only stayed for an hour and a half. Poor Logan had his nose wiped about 650 times and was laying around and coughing his head off. So, I decided to take him home and keep him home. This also meant NO trick or treating and NO wearing his adorable monkey suit. At least we got to go to the Safe Trick or Treat at our old high school Thursday night with my friend Jen and her son Josh. He also wore it for his school parade on Friday. So I am not completely pictureless. It didn't turn out the way we wanted, going trick or treating and all but what can you do? There is always next year!

Punkin' Patch

The pumpkin patch this year was fun! Great weather! Logan was a little more into it being a year older. Randy's Pumpkin Patch has moonwalks, a bunny petting zoo, and pony rides. He was into really none of it. He kind of liked the bunnies.....kind of! But overall, it was a great afternoon activity. I think he will really enjoy it next year. There are even a few pictures here of Logan from last year at Randy's. He has grown....ALOT! http://www.randysnursery.com/pumpkin/
